Intelsius, a DGP company, a designer, manufacturer and distributor of temperature-controlled packaging solutions, based in York, is directing its focus on in-country distribution at the 14th Annual IQPC Cool Chain Europe, held in Frankfurt, Germany, 26-29 January 2015.

Intelsius’ Global Director of Sales, Steve Healy joins other international, thought-leading experts at this year’s conference to speak to delegates on subjects following the cGDP revisions. He will facilitate an interactive roundtable discussion on ‘final mile and in-country distribution: improving performance whilst maintaining affordability’.

Steve said: “In the past, concentration has been directed towards the international supply chain, however I want to focus on the quality of delivery of high-value pharmaceutical products in final mile, in-country distribution.

“I’m really excited to hold a roundtable meeting at this year’s conference. I hope by examining this topic, I will be able to generate some thought-provoking, valuable discussions to enable delegates to share ideas and develop solutions to solve pragmatic, real-life challenges that are faced in our industry on a day-to-day basis.”

As well as holding a breakout session, Intelsius will be displaying a range of its temperature controlled packaging solutions on its stand at the conference, including the ORCA range.

The ORCA is a high performance reusable solution that provide 168+ hours of superior thermal protection for both 2-8 and 15-25 temperature sensitive payloads and deep frozen -78.5 using dry ice.

The range utilises Intelsius’ advanced Phase Change Materials (PCM) and Vacuum Insulated Panels (VIPs) creating unparalleled performance, whilst increasing the payload to volume ratio, which means that you can ship more product for less. Furthermore, its innovative packaging design helps to improve packing times, as well as reduce pack-out errors and thermal shock, which makes it easy to be fully GDP compliant.

In addition to this, Intelsius representatives will also be on hand to discuss its in-country re-use model. This looks at strengthening the quality of the in-country cold chain by addressing the issues of asset management, capital expenditure and quality, which concern some shippers regarding temperature control packaging re-use.

“In the current marketplace, the main obstacles that have prevented the re-use of reusable temperature-controlled packaging are the cost and challenges associated with getting the packaging returned, as well as ensuring its refurbishment and performance once it has been used,” says Steve Healy.

“Whilst Intelsius’ ORCA range already delivers significant savings for in-country shipments due to greatly reduced volumetric weight versus payload capacity, reusing it can further reduce spend on packaging as it becomes a logistics asset rather than a consumable item. Furthermore, we can offer bespoke solutions and validated delivery systems on a cost per trip basis. This also creates a more sustainable solution, allowing customers to reduce their waste output.”

Through working with couriers, integrators and logistics services, Intelsius can manage an inventory of ORCA shippers to offer a solution that gives superior thermal performance within a single quality management system. This will ultimately save customers time and money having to separately source a transport carrier and product solution and enable them to achieve peace-of-mind and multi-use shipper benefits without increasing their level of investment.

Intelsius is also running a survey at the conference on its stand as well as in the roundtable meeting. By providing their views, delegates will be in with a chance of winning a 250-euro donation to the charity of their choice!
